Play Reading

Part IV of Back to Methuselah: Tragedy of an Elderly Gentleman.

Consisting of five linked plays under the

collective title: Back to Methuselah (1918-22), this is one

of Shaw’s greatest works. They expound his philosophy

of creative evolution in an extended dramatic parable

that progresses through time from the Garden of Eden to

31,920 AD. Each Part is a stand-alone playlet and lends

itself to fascinating debate at the end. Theatre director

Catherine Arden will oversee the evening, giving

everybody a chance to read as well as socialise and enjoy a light buffet meal. £10 per person (£8 for members) to include a light supper.
